Same-Day Wasp Nest Treatment in East Ardsley – What to Expect
Wasps sometimes build more than one nest on the same property. Here is how to spot a second one, what to tell us, and how the fixed pricing works.
Two nests, one visit
It is not unusual for a property to have more than one wasp nest. A large garden, an outbuilding, a long roofline or a mix of eaves and ground can all offer several suitable spots. When that happens, the technician can deal with them in a single visit. The first nest is a fixed £90, and each additional nest on the same property is £35. The price is confirmed on the phone before anyone attends, and no work happens until you agree.
Same-day treatment is offered seven days a week, with no call-out charge, and it is easiest to arrange when the full picture is known at the start. If you are in East Ardsley and think you may have more than one nest, say so on the call.
There is no need to apologise for having more than one. Wasps often choose several sheltered spots, and a property with a roof, a shed and a hedge offers plenty of choice. The point is to get all the nests dealt with at once, so you are not repeating the process later.
How to tell whether it is one nest or two
Many people see wasps in several places and assume there are several nests. Usually there is one, with wasps spreading out to forage. But sometimes there really are two or more, and a few observations can help.
- Wasps that fly in and out of two or more separate gaps, far apart, with steady traffic at each.
- Activity in two different parts of the property, such as the roofline and a shed.
- A line of flight that runs in clearly different directions from the garden.
- Buzzing heard in two different walls or rooms.
- Both a visible entrance and a separate one at ground level.
You cannot be sure from a distance, and nobody should go closer to check. Describe what you saw, and the technician will confirm the position on the day.
Remember that a nest may also be hidden from your view. You might see wasps in the front garden and assume that is where the nest is, while the nest is actually next door or behind the garage. Wasps forage over a wide area, so activity in several places does not automatically mean several nests.
Take photographs from a safe distance if you can, one for each place you have seen traffic. Even a blurry image with a date on it helps you remember which spot was which.
What to tell us when you book
The more precise your description, the easier the visit. If you suspect more than one nest, work through these points and have your answers ready.
- List each place where you have seen traffic, with approximate height.
- Say whether the traffic at each spot seems equally busy.
- Mention any outbuildings, hedges or neighbouring gardens close to the activity.
- Explain how the technician can reach each spot.
- Tell us if anyone in the home is allergic to stings.
Do not worry about getting it exactly right. If the technician finds an extra nest during the visit, the additional price of £35 applies and the technician will tell you before going ahead.
A simple sketch of the property, even on the back of an envelope, marking where you saw wasps and roughly how many, can be read out over the phone and used again on the day. It is far easier than trying to recall everything under pressure.
Keeping safe with several nests
With more than one nest, there are more places to avoid. That makes it easier to get caught out, especially in a garden you use every day.
- Keep children and pets away from the whole garden, not just one corner.
- Keep windows shut on every side where you have seen activity.
- Stay out of sheds, garages and lofts until the technician has looked.
- Do not mow, strim or clip hedges near any suspect spot.
- Take food, drinks and rubbish indoors.
A quiet-looking spot may still hold a nest, so treat the whole property with care until the technician says it is safe.
If one nest is much busier than the others, treat the whole property with equal care. The quieter ones may be just as well established and can become active quickly in warm weather.
On the day and afterwards
The technician will walk the property with you, from a safe distance, and look at each spot you have mentioned. They will then treat each nest in turn while you remain indoors or well back. The work is carried out by trained, fully insured staff, for both homes and businesses.
Afterwards, expect a few wasps to circle old entrances. Stay clear for the rest of the day. If you notice another gap with traffic, ring us on 0113 347 0014. Washing the sting, removing it if visible and using a cold pack is the usual first step.
If you would like to know whether any empty nests can be taken down, ask at the time of booking.
Do not expect to be able to tell, an hour after treatment, whether every nest has been found. Keep watching for a few days, from a distance, and ring if the traffic changes.
Booking
You can book by phone or online through the form on the contact page at /contact-us/. Ringing early gives the best chance of a same-day visit. Wasps begin building from late April, depending on the weather, so checking several spots in spring can mean fewer surprises later.
Keep this page in mind for next spring, too. Checking the roofline, any sheds or garages, the hedges and the edges of the lawn takes only a few minutes each month from late April, and finding a second or third nest while it is still small is far easier than waiting until August, when each can hold thousands of wasps.
