Guides on finding, understanding and dealing with wasp nests.
Guessing what kind of insect is nesting, then acting on the guess, is the classic mistake; here is a safe identification checklist and what to do next.
Filling or sealing the hole you think the wasps are using is the commonest mistake, and it often makes more of them appear inside the house.
Filling the entry hole in a hurry is the classic error with a cavity nest, because trapped wasps look for another exit, and that is often into your home.
Mowers, strimmers and hedge-trimmers shake the ground and branches, and a hidden wasp nest feels every vibration as an attack on the colony.
Plugging the visible hole is the mistake that turns a contained problem into an indoor one; this guide shows how to locate the entrance safely and leave the blocking to the right moment.
