Guides on finding, understanding and dealing with wasp nests.
The common mistake is assuming wasps simply arrive in August; in fact a colony has been growing since spring, and understanding how it grows explains why the peak feels so sudden.
The common mistake with a summerhouse nest is carrying on as normal because the building feels like part of the house. This guide explains a safer way through.
Poking, hosing or banging near a suspected nest hole is the common mistake, and it can turn a nuisance into a house full of agitated wasps.
A treated nest still looks like a live one, which tempts people to knock it down too soon, so this guide explains how long to wait and why.
Behaviour, how an insect flies, reacts and defends its home, is often a clearer guide than appearance, and it tells you whether waiting is sensible.
