Guides on finding, understanding and dealing with wasp nests.
Long before wasps reach the windows, a nest under the tiles can announce itself through sounds, warmth and marks, if you know what to listen and look for.
Removing a wasp nest yourself is possible in theory, but the ladder, the stings and the angry colony make it a job best left to a trained technician.
Knowing what a professional visit involves takes much of the worry out of dealing with a nest and explains why it is safer than trying it yourself.
A wasp nest only grows as summer goes on, so the best time to act is the moment you notice steady traffic to one spot, not after the colony has peaked.
The quickest way to tell a wasp from a bee is to look at its shape and surface: wasps are smooth and sharply waisted, while bees are rounder and covered in fine hair.
