Guides on finding, understanding and dealing with wasp nests.
Misjudging where the wasps are heading is the usual mistake. Learn to follow a flight path from the ground, record it and pass it on clearly.
Sheds, garages and outbuildings are quiet and sheltered, which makes them popular with wasps, so check carefully before you reach for the door handle.
A function room or marquee booking raises the stakes on a wasp nest; this checklist helps a venue manager act before the day rather than during it.
Sheds and garages rarely get inspected, which is exactly why queens like them; a short routine in winter and spring keeps the outbuildings from becoming a nesting site.
Putting off the call until the week of a family gathering is a common slip, because a nest found late leaves no room for anything to go wrong beforehand.
